Week 9
This truly has been a wonderful learning experience! I have always been afraid of technology and this journey has taught me there is no reason to be afraid. I am not proficient with all that I have encountered along this technological sail, but I am more confident. I am excited about all I have learned to do and all of the new tools that I can use to enhance my lessons. Most of all, I am glad there is Atomic Learning because I know that I will need tutorials!! There is one aspect of this adventure that I would change if I were to do it again and that is to have my own computer! I've never felt the need or desire for my own computer but this course has changed my course with technology! I feel empowered!!
Week 8
I am glad to be through with the test. I surprised myself!!
I chose to integrate a project called Time of Day using KidPix Deluxe 3because this project is just perfect for Kindergarteners in the early stages of literacy. This project can be adapted to any subject area and it will help the students become familiar with using the tools in Kid Pix to make slides and to add text to their slides. The slides can be used to make a movie. I anticipate the need for parent helpers or older student helpers to assist the many kindergarteners with their slide. It should be a fun experience for the students!
Week 7
1. I really enjoyed visiting all of these sites! Thinkfinity is a really good site that I will pass on to parents so they can enjoy it with their students at home. I will be using it to find lesson plans!
KidPix Delux is also great. I enjoyed looking at the 1 project that was appropriate for Kindergarten. I think they could do the project by the end of the year. Wordle was interesting. It could also be used in Kindergarten once they begin to spell words- rhyming words would be fun for the students to do. I was unable to do a wordle because of the firewall on this computer but I did try. Terraclue was a lot of fun and a great way to use the computer to find information and to practice using maps. I could do a simple hunt for the Kindergartners but they would need someone to read the clues to them.
2./3. I am responsible for the lessons in the computer lab for my class. I can see that it would be possible to use many of these sites in the lab with my class. They will definitely enjoy Kid Pix!

Week 6

I enjoyed looking at the different classroom aides. I particularly enjoyed Kid Zone, Google Lit(although it was very slow to respond and I am wondering how it will be in the classroom on my computer) and also I liked the math manipulatives. I think I could also use Wordsift with my class, too.
Using these different aides will definitely take a lot of time for me because I am not accustomed to using them and I am still not willing to spend soooo much time on the computer. However, I do know that the more I use it, the more proficient I will become and the better it will be for my students. I am trying to maintain an open mind concerning technology in the Kindergarten classroom.

Week 4
1. It has been a real learning experience making my photo story. I can definitely use this tool in Kindergarten. I take many pictures of my students. They will enjoy arranging the pictures and dictating text to make a movie of the things we learn. Parents will enjoy it also. This is where I would post my photo story but unfortunately the system is experiencing difficulty with embedding videos and my only choice is to keep trying.
2.,3. United Streaming is an excellent learning tool. I use it often in my classroom. It was fun looking through Teacher tube, but often the videos were not good quality and it took a lot of time to view them. I did find videos to embed in this blog; one video is titled "At what age Kindergarten?" and the other is Technology in Kindergarten. Again, I am unable to embed these into the blog because of the difficulties in blogger.

Week 5
1. Given that I have a Kindergarten classroom, I think that using a wiki with my students will not be easy but I can see that perhaps I could have a wiki to use with parents of students to post calendars of Kindergarten events. I do think, however, that this is a lot of trouble for posting a calendar!
2.A wiki and a blog are both tools for sharing information and both give opportunities for the reader to respond. It seems to me that a wiki is a better tool to use when it is necessary to involve certain people (as on a committee) and feedback from those people is easier since the information, or document can be turned into a working document and then changes can be made very quickly and easily. Also it is nice to have a history of all the revisions on the wiki.
3. I am open to any suggestions on how to use a wiki in a kindergarten classroom!! This is something that perhaps could be used but not until the second semester! Any ideas?

Week 3
Wow!! I am still overwhelmed at all of this stuff!! I will definitely be using Google Earth with my Kindergarten class. I was able to find some Kindergarten Math games using the google reader. I can see that I really need to spend a lot of time playing around with this to be able to use it in the classroom.
